The Library of Nanjing Forestry University was established independently in 1952. Its collection of books and periodicals came from the Jinling University, Central University, and Central China Agricultural College. Undergone numerous changes, the Library now has two branches in Xinzhuang Campus and Huai'an Campus, with a total area of 55,000 square meters and 4700 seats. The opening time per week is about 99.5 hours. After several generations of efforts, it has become a modern, intelligent and comprehensive academic library with rich resources, complete services, comfortable space and advanced technology.
The collection mainly focus on forestry, and it is one of the most complete libraries of forestry literature in China. It is also one of the designated collections of FAO publications. The Library has more than 2.38 million printed documents, 1,100-odd Chinese and foreign paper periodicals, 50-odd Chinese and foreign databases, nearly 4.3 million electronic books, and 50,000-odd electronic journals. The Library has actively participated in cooperation and exchanges in the construction and services of agricultural and forestry library resources with CALIS, JALIS.
The Library has a complete information service system. The library provides literature information services such as resource discovery, collection inquiry, book lending, new book exhibition reading, special book exhibition, document delivery, information literacy education, and the digital library offers non-stop service. Besides, the Library has been carrying out in-depth knowledge services, providing services such as scientific and technological innovation, subject services, information analysis, digital academics, etc., and has played a strong supporting role in discipline construction, teaching research and management and decision-making. The Library provides a variety of space services, such as maker experience space, work display space, seminar and communication room, academic lecture hall, audio-visual room, audio-visual appreciation room, recording and broadcasting room and other diversified spaces.
The library adheres to the "people-oriented, readers first" concept, and will develop into a digital, ecological and smart library. It will expand the service field, enhance the service content, innovate the service model, and improve the service quality to become the information resource guarantee center, learning exchange center and campus cultural center.
