Workshop on Sustainable Bamboo Utilization in China and Thailand Held in NJFU

On May 27, Workshop on Sustainable Bamboo Utilization in China and Thailand was held in NJFU. Toemsak Srikhirin, Managing Director of the Metals and Materials Technology Centre (MTEC) of the National Science and Technology Development Agency of Thailand, and Wang Guoqin, Department Director of the International Ecosystem Management Partnership Program (UNEP-IEMP) of the United Nations Environment Program, and his team attended the meeting. Vice President Yin Tongming attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Yin Tongming warmly welcomed the delegation from the Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) of the National Science and Technology Development Administration of Thailand, and briefly introduced bamboo planting, processing and industrial application of NJFU, as well as the research results of Bamboo Industry Research Institute, Bamboo Research Institute and Bamboo Engineering Research Center of the National Forestry and Grass Bureau. He said that NJFU has always been in the leading position in the field of bamboo planting and processing, and hoped to jointly promote the research in the fields of bamboo cultivation, key technologies and demonstrations of bamboo processing, as well as international exchanges and cooperation with Thailand.

Toemsak Srikhirin expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of NJFU and the help of UN Environment and the Royal Thai Embassy, and introduced the basic information of MTEC. He said that MTEC's research direction of "high value utilization of biomass materials" was highly consistent with the research field of NJFU, a leader in biomass materials research, and he hoped to further deepen cooperation in the future.

Wang Guoqin introduced the functions of the United Nations Environment Program and expressed his willingness to give full play to the platform advantages of intergovernmental international organizations, promote the multilateral co-construction of Nanjing Forestry University and MTEC international cooperation platform, promote and transform bamboo processing technology and achievements to the outside world, and look forward to in-depth exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in more areas.

During the visit, the delegation visited the bamboo museum and bamboo laboratory of NJFU, and went to Zixi to investigate the current situation of bamboo processing and application.
