Delegation of NJFU Visited UK and Italy
A delegation of NJFU led by Vice President Zhao Jianfeng visited UK and Italy from June 9 to 15.
During the visit to the University of Birmingham, the delegation met with Professor William Bloss, Vice-Chancellor and Minister of the Department of Life and Environmental Sciences of the University of Birmingham, and Professor Sami Ullah, Dean of the Birmingham Forest Research Institute and academic director of the BIFoR Free Air Carbon Dioxide Enrichment Facility (BIFOR-FACE). The delegation also visited the free air carbon dioxide enrichment facility (BIFoR-FACE). The two sides agreed that the two universities would give full play to their academic advantages in forestry, ecology and biology, strengthen cooperation on the impact of rising carbon dioxide concentration on ecosystems (especially subtropical forests and bamboo forest ecosystems) and plant growth, jointly apply for intergovernmental international cooperation projects and hold international conferences; The two sides also had in-depth exchanges on cooperation in jointly training undergraduates and postgraduates and exchanging young scholars.
During the visit to the University of Strathclyde, Professor Stephen McArthur, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde, warmly received the delegation and introduced the university and its academic strengths. He said that the University of Strathclyde was the world's leading technical university and had advantages in several key research areas. Professor Jan Sefcik, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, gave an overview of the department. The two sides exchanged views on the replacement of the existing 3+1+1 program by the 2+2 program, and discussed the issue of curriculum docking and the possibility of international students obtaining a double degree from both universities. Stephen McArthur suggested extending the collaboration to the departments of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical and aeronautical Engineering and Civil engineering, and made a promise to visit NJFU. During the visit, the delegation visited the chemistry laboratory and had a discussion and exchange with the international students from NJFU.
During the visit to the University of Camerino in Italy, Professor Graziano Leoni, President of Camerino University, Professor Emanuele Tondi, Vice President of Camerino University, Professor Massimo Sargolini, President of the School of Architecture and Design, Professor Carlo Vannicola, Vice President of Camerino University, and Marta Aureli, Head of the International Affairs Department met with the delegates. Graziano Leoni introduced the university and emphasized the importance of cooperation with NJFU. The two sides exchanged views on the basis of cooperation in the early stage and signed a cooperation agreement. After the meeting, the delegation, at the invitation of Massimo Sargolini, went to the campus of the University of Camerino Ascoli Piceno to carry out an exchange on home and industrial design. Marco Fioravanti, Mayor of Ascoli Piceno City, attended and introduced the general situation of Ascoli Piceno City and the preferential policies of the municipal government in terms of policies, accommodation and funds to attract international students. The School of Architecture and Design of Camerino University and the College of Home and Industrial Design of NJFU signed a cooperation agreement.
