The 36th ISO TC165 Meeting Successfully Held in NJFU
From September 23 to 26, the Academic Seminar on International Standards for Bamboo and Wood Structures in 2024 and the 36th Annual Meeting of ISO TC165 Bamboo/Wood Structures were held in NJFU. Prof. Li Weilin, Vice President of NJFU, Academician Ying Hei Chui, President of ISO TC165, and Ms. Chen Liling, Vice Chairman of Fujian Cheng 'an Blue Shield Industrial Co., Ltd. attended the conference. More than 80 experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from more than 20 countries around the world participated in the activities.
At the opening ceremony, Vice President Li extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced the development of NJFU. He said that NJFU had made remarkable achievements in the construction of characteristic and advantageous disciplines, especially in forestry engineering, civil engineering and other related fields, which have accumulated profound theoretical and practical foundations; NJFU had always attached importance to international exchanges and cooperation, adhered to the international development strategy, establishing cooperative relations with more than 50 academic institutions around the world. He hoped that through this meeting, the scientific and technological innovation and development in the field of bamboo and wood structures would be effectively promoted.
Ying Hei Chui introduced the significance and background of the conference and expressed his gratitude to NJFU. He said that the successful holding of the conference was a powerful approach for China to actively promote the research and industrial development of bamboo/wood structure and promote international exchanges and cooperation.
Chen Liling as a representative of the enterprise introduced the development of China's bamboo industry. She hoped to have in-depth discussions, exchanges and cooperation with the participating experts to jointly promote the sustainable development of the bamboo industry.
A number of ISO international standards were included in the plan of this conference, among which the "Restructured Bamboo Products for Structural Use" was jointly led by Prof. Li Haitao of NJFU and Professor Mahmud Ashraf of Deakin University in Australia.
