A Delegation of NJFU Visited Canada

At the invitation of UNB and the University of British Columbia (UBC), a delegation of NJFU led by Vice President Yin Tongming visit Canada from October 20 to 26.

During the visit to the University of New Brunswick, Vice President Yin Tongming met with UNB President Paul J. Mazerol, Vice President John Kershaw, Dean of the School of Forestry and Environment Michelle Gray, and Professor Graham Forbes. The two sides renewed the "3+1+1" joint project agreement and discussed the expansion plan of future projects. John Kershaw introduced the development of the joint program and expressed positive affirmation of the high-quality students sent by NJFU. The delegation also met with international students from NJFU. Yin Tongming encouraged the students to strengthen their physical fitness in addition to learning professional and cultural knowledge. The delegation then visited the Wood Science and Technology Center and discussed the future direction of scientific research cooperation with Professor Gong Meng, director of the center.  

During the visit to the University of British Columbia, UBC Vice President Gage Averill warmly welcomed the delegation. The two sides reviewed the development process of the joint-running program between the two universities, conducted in-depth discussions on the mode of joint training of inter-school talents, etc. At the seminar, Professor Robert Kozak, Dean of UBC's School of Forestry, Professor Nicholas Coop, Department of Forestry Resource Management, Professor Stavros Avramidis, Department of Wood Science, Professor Andrew Almas, Department of Urban Forestry, etc. reported and analyzed the development of the school and the discipline. The two sides discussed the joint training mechanism of undergraduates and postgraduates, and conducted in-depth exchanges on laboratory construction, application of international cooperation projects, and joint construction of international scientific research cooperation platforms. Vice President Yin Tongming said that the training of international talents had become an important mission of higher education, and he looked forward to in-depth exchanges and close cooperation with UBC to promote education innovation and jointly train high-quality professionals with international competitiveness. The delegation also visited the wood processing laboratory and met with the NJFU students of joint training programs.
