2024 Annual General Meeting of Jiangsu-UK World-Class University Consortium Successfully Held in Nanjing
On November 4, 2024 Annual General Meeting of Jiangsu-UK World-Class University Consortium was held in Nanjing. The annual meeting was sponsored by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and British Council, and hosted by Nanjing Forestry University. Mr. Yang Shubing, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Ms. Catherine Sinclair-Jones, Director of East China Region of British Council, Mr. Yong Qiang, President of NJFU and Mr. Yin Tongming, Vice President of NJFU attended the opening ceremony. Representatives from Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, British Embassy Cultural and Educational Office, University of Liverpool, Lancaster University, University of Reading, Queen's University Belfast, Cranfield University, University of Leicester, University of Plymouth and 29 high-level universities in Jiangsu attended the meeting. Mr. Yang Shubing, Mr. Yong Qiang and Ms. Catherine Sinclair-Jones delivered remarks at the opening ceremony.
After the opening ceremony, Presidents’ Panel, a closed-door meeting and parallel sub-forums were held. The Presidents’ Panel was chaired by Alan Marshall, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool. Presidents from nine universities, including the University of Liverpool, Queen's University Belfast, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Jiangsu University, Nanjing Forestry University, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Nanjing University of Technology, Nanjing Audit University and Nanjing Polytechnic University, exchanged views on the theme of "Prospects for China-UK Collaboration: How to Work together to address global and social challenges in a Changing World".
The closed-door session was chaired by Ms. Shi Yunyu, Director of the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Office of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. Jiangsu University, the secretariat unit of Jiangsu, and the University of Liverpool, the secretariat unit of Britain, respectively gave a brief summary of 2023 and reported the work plans for 2025.
The parallel sub-forums focused on the three themes of "medical health", "environmental engineering" and "transnational education". Experts and scholars from more than 10 universities including Jiangnan University, Nanjing Forestry University, Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Yangzhou University, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, Nanjing University of Technology, University of Plymouth, University of Liverpool, University of Lancaster, University of Reading and Queen's University Belfast were invited to make special presentations.
After the meeting, the participants took a campus tour and visited the History Museum of NJFU, the National Key Laboratory of Forest Genetics and Breeding, the International Innovation Highland of Forest Chemistry and Materials, etc.
