Academician Ove Nilsson from the Swedish Agricultural University Visited NJFU
On May 7th, Prof. Ove Nilsson, an internationally renowned botanist, an academician of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and the director of the Umea Plant Science Center at Swedish Agricultural University, visited NJFU. Prof. Yin Tongming, Vice President of NJFU, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Prof. Yin extended a warm welcome to Academician Ove Nilsson. In the welcome speech, he said that the Swedish Agricultural University, as the most influential higher education institution in agriculture and forestry in the Nordic region, enjoys a high reputation in fields such as agronomy, forestry, and animal science; the two sides had broad cooperation space in multiple fields including forest tree genetic improvement, sustainable development of ecosystems, and plant science; 10 disciplines of NJFU have ranked among the top 1% globally in ESI, providing a solid foundation for both sides to carry out deeper international cooperation.
Academician Ove Nilsson expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and highly praised the outstanding achievements of NJFU. He pointed out that the forest tree genetics and breeding team of Nanjing Forestry University has achieved a series of innovative results in the genetic improvement of tree species such as poplar and fir, which has had an important impact on the international academic community. He expressed full confidence in the further comprehensive deepening of scientific research cooperation between the two sides.
The heads of relevant units such as the International Cooperation Office, the College of Forestry and Grassland, the College of Soil and Water Conservation, the College of Ecology and Environment, and the College of Life Sciences attended the meeting.
