The Seminar on Forestry Carbon Sink Management for BRI Countries Opened in NJFU
On June 27, the Seminar on Forestry Carbon Sink Management for BRI Countries opened in NJFU. Vice President Zhang Hong of NJFU attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech to introduce NJFU and extend the welcome to all trainees. Mr. Chen Yuhe, Executive Director-General of China National Bamboo Research Center, introduced the seminar and wished it a complete success. Mr. Mohammad Khaled Abdelrahim Aburumman, Director of Forestry Section,Ministry of Agriculture, Jordan and a representative of the trainee, delivered an on-line speech expressing the hope to cherish this learning opportunity. Also present in the opening ceremony were Mr. Ding Xingcui, Director of International Forestry Science and Technology Training Centre of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, directors of the International Cooperation Office NJFU, dean of International Education College NJFU, keynote speakers of the semiar and 65 trainees from 12 countries including Egypt, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tanzania, Uganda, Iran, and Jordan.
The seminar is a part of the foreign aid training programs sponsored by Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China. It is the first international training program launched in NJFU since the establishment of the International Forestry Science and Technology Training Center (Nanjing Base) of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. The seminar would last for three weeks, providing online lectures, group discussions, and cloud visits. More than 20 well-known experts and scholars were invited to give lectures. By vivid case studies, the trainees would truly understand the key points and difficulties of forestry carbon sink management, the achievements and experience of China's forestry carbon sink management, and the rules and techniques of carbon market trading. The seminar would also display China’s achievements in social, economic and ecological civilization construction since the reform and opening-up in the hope of promoting forestry exchanges and cooperation between China and BRI countries.
