A Delegation of NJFU Led by President Yong Qiang Visited Malaysia

A six-member delegation of NJFU led by President Yong Qiang visited Malaysia from September 12 to 15. Their destinations included the National University of Malaysia (UKM), the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM), and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia.

During the visit to UKM, the Delegation visited the teaching facilities and laboratories, and discussed with relevant colleges on the content and mode of cooperation in running schools. The charter and agreement for cooperation between NJFU and UKM were signed by President Yong and Daro Ekhwan, President of UKM. In his speech, President Yong said that the friendship between China and Malaysia had a long history and Malaysia and China had been closely linked since the beginning of the ancient Maritime Silk Road; the in-depth cooperation would definitely expand new cooperative areas between the two sides, and cultivate more high-level cooperation for digital economy, green development, new energy, high-end manufacturing, modern forestry etc.

During the visit to the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and FRIM, Dato Prof. Dr. Norzaini Binti Azman, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, and Dr Mohd.Zaki Bin HJ.Abdullha, President of FRIM, had respectively met with the Delegation. President Yong introduced the characteristics and disciplinary advantages of NJFU, and discussions on cooperation between the NJFU and Malaysia in higher education, forestry research, environmental protection, the development of green economy, forestry research frontier were carried out, laying a good foundation for further cooperation.


The delegation also visited the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia. Zhao Changtao, Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, fully affirmed and supported the visit and exchange, hoping that the cooperation between NJFU and UKM would be fruitful and successful, and further cooperation with Malaysia in various stage would be promoted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia.
