A Delegation of NJFU Visited New Zealand and Australia

A delegation of NJFU led by Vice President Prof. Liu Zhongliang, visited the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, the University of Western Australia and Curtin University in Australia from November 3 to 10.

During the visit to the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, Dr Brett Berquist, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Canterbury, Dr Graham Wise, Head of International Development, Professor Paul Ballantine, Executive Dean of the Business School, Professor Russell Wordsworth, Academic Associate Dean of the Business School, and Shusheng, Faculty of Engineering Professor Pang, the manager of Overseas study and exchange students, and the manager of the International Cooperation Department met with the delegation. Vice President Liu gave a brief introduction of NJFU, such as the history, disciplinary characteristics, scientific research results, international partners, and the history and scale of international education. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on business talent training, high-level inter-university cooperation projects in forestry engineering, student exchanges, and the joint application of international cooperative scientific research projects.


During the visit to the University of Western Australia, Prof. Jennifer Howell, the Vice-Chancellor of UWA, Dr Kate Hislop, Dean of the School of Design, Prof. Maria Ignatieva of Landscape Architecture, School of Design, Associate Professor Rosangela Tenorio, of Landscape Architecture, School of Design, and Ms. Sandy Ng, Director of the Australian International Education Mechanism and Ms. Rachel Darovic, Program Manager for International Education, met with the delegation. The two sides reviewed the close exchanges and cooperation between NJFU and UWA's Landscape architecture program since 2017. The two sides agreed to continue to expand the "3+1+1" program for landscape architecture undergraduates and expand the majors and scale of exchange students. The delegation also visited the teaching and research facilities such as classrooms, libraries, and laboratories.


During the visit to Curtin University, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Seth Kunin, Prof. Felix Chan, Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Prof. Lisa Lim of the School of Humanities, Ms. Grace Ang, Head of the School of Economics and Management International Student Program, Prof. Vishnu Pareek, Head of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr Yun Yu, Ms. Saba Amanuel, Head of the International Student Program in the Engineering Department, met with the delegation. In his speech, Vice President Liu said that the current faculty of NJFU had many young talents who had obtained doctoral degrees in Australia, and they had maintained close cooperation with the Australian side in scientific research and achieved a series of internationally leading research results, laying a solid foundation for the future cooperation between the two universities. He believed that the two universities would have more cooperation in humanities and social sciences and hoped to further expand the international talent training and scientific research.


On behalf of NJFU, Vice President Liu signed memorandums of cooperation with the University of Western Australia and Curtin University respectively.
