A Delegation of INBAR Visited NFU

A delegation of International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) led by Deputy Director General Prof. Lu Wenming paid a visit to NFU on March 4. Prof. Zhang Hong, Vice President of NFU, met with the delegation.

In the meeting, Prof. Zhang welcomed the delegation on behalf of NFU and she pointed out that there had been a long-term cooperation between the two parties in personnel training and scientific research. In recent years, both parties had achieved remarkable results in establishing international joint labs, co-chairing international conferences, and elaborating professional bamboo and rattan courses. She hoped that the two parties would have more cooperation in international projects and technology promotion.

Prof. Lu highly appreciated NFU’s contribution to promoting the sustainable development of the bamboo industry in developing countries, especially INBAR member countries, through knowledge sharing and achievement transfer. He hoped that in the post-epidemic era, there would be closer cooperation between the two parties and more NFU internships carried out in INBAR, so as to jointly promote the cultivation of bamboo talents and the development of the global bamboo industry.

Founded in 1997 and headquartered in China, INBAR is a non-profit intergovernmental development organization that promotes environmentally sustainable development using bamboo and rattan. It has 47 Member States, mainly from developing regions. INBAR has played an especially strong role in promoting South-South cooperation for the last 20 years.
